Commercial Engine Oil

This data sheet is based on The Elf product "Tecnic Super 15W/40".

Tecnic Super 15W/40 is one of the range of Tecnic branded commercial engine oils developed by Elf to meet the ACEA European specifications which have now replaced the familiar CCMC standards. The range has been specially formulated to suit the requirements of all operators; whatever the makes and types of vehicles in the fleet and regardless of the operating conditions.

They exceed, by a significant margin, the demanding performance standards of engine builders and surpass the quality levels required to gain the appropriate API (USA) as well as the ACEA service fill credentials. These two bodies issue codes of practice for the formulation and testing of engine oils. If correctly followed they guarantee quality because:

All laboratories must be ISO 9001 certified.

All tests must be pre-registered.

All changes to formulations have to be declared and every test is subject to being re-run depending on the changes.

All product subsequently produced must use the same base oils and additives as the product submitted for testing.

To gain both these credentials and manufacturers' approvals a large number of engine tests have been carried out at an approved, accredited test agency. To guarantee quality the engine test results were submitted for approval by various bodies and engine manufacturers for certification.

Computer controlled blending of Elf's products ensures that the products we sell do match the products submitted for testing.

This is a high quality mixed fleet engine oil. It is suitable for use in turbocharged and naturally aspirated engines, both petrol and diesel, and offers extended drain potential.

It is also suitable for Caterpillar equipment where 15W/40 or TO-2 oils are specified.

Where engine operating conditions are demanding, but do not justify the use of an SHPD (Super High Performance Diesel) engine oil, Tecnic Super 15W/40 perfectly meets these requirements. This includes approval of the formulation by Volvo with the oil being subjected to one of the industry's most severe heavy duty, long distance vehicle field trials using Volvo TD 122 FS engines in F.12 trucks. Tecnic Super provides protection against bore polishing well in excess of that required by Volvo against their VDS specification.

Excellent fluidity down to -20°C gives rapid circulation on start up. It maintains full multigrade properties throughout the service period, even when the conditions are very severe. It has exceptional thermal stability with anti-wear, anti-oxidant and anti-corrosive properties. Detergent/dispersant additives maintain excellent engine cleanliness.

This quality product is suitable for a wide variety of vehicles from heavy trucks rated at 38 tonnes and over down to petrol and diesel passenger cars. The qualifications listed below bear testimony to the versatility of the grade and its undeniable performance; a performance better than that of API SG quality products.

The number of engine tests which have to be carried-out to surpass all these standards is impressive, and Tecnic Super is therefore the first choice for a mixed fleet where reliability under normal heavy duty operating conditions is a prerequisite.
